At a guess, to return to the earlier conversation, there need to be two procedures in hand: one to authorise funding should there be an issue and the second some form of arrangement with a local club/centre, as some areas may have very limited indoor court space. That feels as if it should be standard procedure. Certainly for one of the highest-level British Tour events not to be able to play finals without the players paying for the courts is absurd.
Nick Brookes- another Millfield boy to keep an eye out for....pretty much the exact same height as Luke Hammond as well (6 foot 4). We feed them well at the school!
The British Tour mainly played indoors due to rain all week but the final today on grass and was pretty ugly tennis to say the least. Court unplayable in some patches, added onto being a windy day. I think Joe regretted shouting how the court was 'like his back garden'...after the final one of the organisers from the club took to the mic and made a funny remark about his 'garden court'.
Shame about the standard of the final as the tournament went all out for the final bringing some commentators in who were live on LiveSports FM!!
But overall a great week for Nick as he prepares to have a crack at U18 Nationals in a couple of weeks.
Don't know Nick but I always thought highly of Joe W as a junior - in my mind one to watch. He's been at Utah for a year but seems to have been on the bench most of the time as far as I can see. Must say, I find that quite surprising. Pleased to see him do so well here.
