RE: Week 49 - Qatar F5 ($10,000) - Doha (outdoor hard)

For a change, sadly, Luke is on the wrong end of a fast start today with Hong leading 3-0*

All gone decidedly pear shaped for Luke so far today as he gets bagelled in the opening set. His 1st serve %age was 28% (5/18) and he only won 1 of those 5 that went in.

Still time for a 2nd set turnaround, but after his exertions over the last couple of weeks, I wonder if he still has it in the legs. Let's not forget too, he is playing a very good player.

Back on serve at *2-3, although with 4 breaks in 5 games, I am not sure how relevant "on serve" actually is.

Not to be today. At 3-3* 30-40, Luke had BP to take a 4-3 lead but didn't convert. From there, he barely won another point as Hong ran out the winner 6-3 in the 3rd.

But another strong week from Bambo. 6 more points in the bag, and now couple of days rest before one last "blast" next week.

Ah well. Still, as you say, a good week.

And just to add to the pain:

Final:  Joris de Loore & Michael Geerts (BEL/BEL) CR 1604 (1019+585) defeated Luke Bambridge & Mats Moraing (GER) CR 1852 (300+1552) by 5 & 3 cry

Those bloody Belgians are certainly making us pay for that Davis Cup final victory... wink
