This prestigious event was won last year by Reilly Opelka and Dalma Galfi. The main draw comes out later with Ryan Storrie and Alexis Canter expected to be in it. Although there were no British acceptances in the girls event, once Emily Arbuthnott pulled out, Ali Collins has signed in for qualifying and double bageled her hapless Panamanian opponent in the first qualifying round. She needs to negotiate two matches today to make the main draw.
I believe she plays Kelly Chen JWR 92 in the first round.
She does, though the ITF is very little help so far with this tournament. Ali qualified comfortably, only losing 6 games in 3 matches. Ali, Alexis and Ryan have all avoided seeds, but face very tricky round 2s against strong seeds probably
Yes. ::(( It's been reversed on my ITF drawsheet. It still said Canter had won two seconds ago (as I hadn't pressed 'refresh'). And then....it was Baez
Alexis really has been having a rather thin time of it recently, in terms of results.
It's true that, as said before, he doesn't strike me as the best potential player of our lot (and didn't when he was number 1, six months ago or so).
But it'd be nice to see him get a few wins under his belt. Especially as he has a lot of points coming off in January.
I hope the tweet is correct, Ryan has had some decent results against ranked opponents and it would've great to see him get a good run at the junior slams next year.
