It's a slightly stronger field such that i'm not sure Evan will get seeded and their is a certain Brummie that may well cause problems as well.

Anyway fantastic result and another of the junior Davis Cup boys winners pushing for senior recognition - Bambo's turn to make some waves now...

He is another on my list of candidates.

This is quite a transformation from Evan. In the 10 futures he played in the first 7 months of the year (ignoring one WC) he failed to qualify for 6 of them.

Might be something to do with his change of training base!

Definitely think that is a big factor, but as I have hypothesized before, I also think it has taken Evan most of the year to overcome the double stress fracture of the back that decimated the previous 12 months for him.

Whatever the reason is, long may it continue.  I saw Evan hitting with Oli Golding in La Manga a couple of years ago and he is clearly a talented young player.

Yes, I agree. I saw him playing at the NTC about three years ago and wrote on here that he had a really nice game - good technique and good athleticism. Definitely stood out amongst a crowd of not too shabby players.

But then he barely played the year after. Nor much the year after that, if I remember right.

Really nasty injury - obviously took a long time for a young body to get the strength back - and psychologically it plays on the mind.

Thrilled for him (and Welsh tennis) that it's all going so well.

Mind you, do you think there's some magic fairy dust in Tunisia? Will he be able to win anywhere else? Otherwise, him and Mirabelle should set up camp there together on a permanent basis

Excellent stuff. Evan's really hitting his stride these last few months, great to see him surging up the rankings. Long may it continue.

Evan's ITF main draw record will be 21-16 after today's win. Of those 21 wins, 17 have come in his last 6 ITFs! Given that he also won the Taunton British Tour event just before Tipton; that's 4 finals in his last 7 events. He has won 3 of those finals plus picked up a couple doubles titles in those events! He has definitely turned a corner!

He certainly has and I for one am really happy to see that.  Doubt very much that I am the only one.

Welcome to the board Cat Gut.

Edit

P.S. Can we expect any "insider knowledge" on Evan's adventures ?  I am sensing a vested interest here  wink
