Easy peasy!  Joe & David are s !  biggrin  Their first Challenger title, if I'm not mistaken.

Final:  David O'Hare (IRL) & Joe Salisbury CR 491 (239+252) defeated (1) Austin Krajicek & Nicholas Monroe (USA/USA) CR 147 (88+59) by 1 & 4  ban-woohoo.gif

Scant consolation.  Just great to see another GB (and Irish) Challenger win though really.

Yay, great result and title

Minor detail, David and Joe's current rankings are WR 265 and WR 279 respectively ( CR 524 ). Last week's rankings appear to have been carried through the thread for them, and a futures title from last November dropped off for the latest rankings.

But challenger titles certainly beat futures ones! And I make it that the 80 points for this title should take Joe up to a doubles CH of around WR 220.

I think I probably forgot to update the rankings after Monday.

And I copied and pasted, without checking to update.

But how lovely to think that there will be such a leap in the coming week that we couldn't possibly fail to notice! Hurrah for Messrs Salisbury and O'Hare. Well done they. Nice Q and A with Mr Salisbury if you scroll down here: ontherisetennis.blogspot.co.uk/2015/11/champaign-punch-fritz-to-play-for.html

That was very easy. Joe and Dave played very solid, the opposition were disappointing.

Joe has risen 59 places in today's rankings to N° 220 & David by 56 to N° 209, so their CR is now 429. smile

It's worth noting that the article about Mr Salisbury and Mr O'Hare mentions the fact that their university coach was with them all week, and that he worked with them on specific things throughout the week, especially prior to the final. Mr Salisbury certainly seems to feel this made a difference. Emphasises the importance of coaching - which generally speaking the lower-level players don't have. And makes you wonder where some of our pairings would be if they did (especially if the coaches were as helpful as this one seems to have been!)

I think this underlines, yet again, the value of US college tennis, particularly now that players can extend playing careers into their thirties.
