It is interesting to note the Mr. Fritz stuffed the no.1 seed and world no.100 1&2. That is a heck of a scoreline.
Re Dan using the slice most of the time, I think he just does what works for him. Some opponents handle it better than others, I didn't see his match against Fritz so can't really comment. Tim used the slice in a similar fashion and he did ok....
He wasn't really doing much with it. That was the problem. Slice is great when used with intent. When it's sent back to sit up nicely midcourt, you're asking for trouble and Fritz can hit a heavy ball.
Fritz was certainly impressive when he played at the Bank of England junior event this June, from a pure tennis point of view. However, he got hammered in the second round
Such is life......
Mmoh, on the contrary, who won it, seemed brittle (although he's young so things change).
With Tommy Paul playing, and Opelka, too, and all for free, and close-up, it certainly was a wonderful opportunity to see all the young US talent.
QF: (2) Johan Brunström & Freddie Nielsen (SWE/DEN) CR 225 (115+110) defeated Dave Rice & Marcus Willis CR 785 (318+467) by 1 & 3
I've a feeling I've asked this question before, but I can't for the life of me remember the answer: do Dave & Marcus pick up the 15 points & the dosh ($320 apiece), even though they reached the quarters only by virtue of a walkover?
Joe and David take out the Nº2 seeds in the semi final, winning 10-8 in the MTB.
Edit
SC. you've done me again
Sorry, Bob, but you'll have to get up in the morning to catch me when there's a doubles match involving a Brit on the go & I'm at home or my desk at work.

I have a better plan up my sleeve. GIVE UP.
Edit
That's me giving up, not you.

That is a good win. I just hope that Mr Willis and Mr Rice didn't feel too dispirited by their loss. I thought that there was actually quite a lot of potential visible in that pairing.
