SF: (1) Austin Krajicek & Nicholas Monroe (USA/USA) CR 147 (88+59) vs Josh Milton & John-Patrick Smith (AUS) CR 1074 (799+275)
For the record, Dan Smethurst rose 38 places in today's rankings to N° 348. That said, his doubles CH is 159 (July last year). Darren Walsh dropped 10 places to 187 (CH = 150 in July), while Dave Rice climbed 24 places to N° 304 (CH = 177 in August 2013), Marcus W 26 places to N° 437 (CH = 221 in August last year), while Josh M was the big winner: +182 places to N° 678 (CH = 498 in July 2011).
In an era where people make their breakthroughs later and later, tournaments like this make it hard not to feel frustrated with the LTA and its "success at an early age or out you go" philosophy. The 1989/90s generally feel like "the lost generation," not in the sense that they are lost, but in that they came through at a time when help in making the transition from juniors to seniors was wanting and could have been far better served by those around them. They've accomplished a lot nonetheless, and still clearly in some cases have the potential to do more and go further. I'd particularly like to see some encouragement go to Mr Smethurst, who as the "third Dan" so to speak feels as if he never quite got the care that he should have, despite himself having been a top 30 junior and having shown over the years that he has the potential to do some quite interesting things. Would love to see him make a breakthrough, whether in singles or doubles.

Darren Walsh actually went up 8 places to WR 179, according to the ATP screen I get for their rankings for 23/11
Which makes the event even more successful, vis-a-vis the British players.
QF: (2) Johan Brunström & Freddie Nielsen (SWE/DEN) CR 225 (115+110) defeated Dave Rice & Marcus Willis CR 785 (318+467) by 1 & 3
I've a feeling I've asked this question before, but I can't for the life of me remember the answer: do Dave & Marcus pick up the 15 points & the dosh ($320 apiece), even though they reached the quarters only by virtue of a walkover?
As per the ATP rulebook:
4. Defaults / Withdrawals A match won by default or walkover will count as a match won for computer ranking points and prize money.

(all doubles increases also on the STEVEN thread)
The rankings I quoted are still the ones showing on Darren's page on the ATP site.
Weird, and then when you select the 'rankings breakdown' from Darren's individual page in the detail you do get the 179 ranking and all the points that make that up including his Champaign points.
Down 10 to WR 187 is still last week's details, him having been WR 177 the previous week.
As an aside, re something that I wondered about recently, I see that you do get qualifying points in doubles challengers, Darren having 18 points from Champaign, ie. 15+3.
