Not going to be exactly ideal for Kyle if he keeps winning ( that bit good ) and things get backed up here ( bad ).

Signs of life as the players are warming up again. Weather still doesn't look good though. Sounds like raindrops on the microphone to me.

Thought so. They have gone off again. Might have to check this result in the morning. Sorry Kedders.

Just been reading through Kyle's thread from last week. I think the two post-US Open losses were during a time his girlfriend was ill in hospital in the US, so he must have had a lot on his mind. I believe he withdrew from the following tournament's to go and see her in Missouri. Glad to see that it appears all is going well now though, on both the personal and the tennis front.

Thanks very much for this info, Josh, I was totally unaware of Kyle's girlfriend being ill.

Without making assumptions this would appear to possibly largely explain his rather perplexing post US Open performances ( about which I generally just recall concern on the forum, with mention of his own unexplained previous illness ) as well as pulling out of tournaments including his 'late' arrival in South America.

All the best to them both.

Kyle staring down the barrel- trails 6-4 *5-4. Missed easy put away at 15-30 which proved costly, saved first bp, but decent Garin forehand winner took the second.

And a passing shot that goes wide seals Kyle's fate, he looked a little uncomfortable with the surface and was far from his best. Garin takes it 4&4

Strategic defeat?  disbelief

Re Kyle's ranking, in running it appears that he is currently up 1 to WR 98, but there remain a few players still involved at different locations that could overtake him this week.

Direct acceptance to the Australian Open MD, while looking very good ( and he himself has nothing to drop by 07/12 ), is not done and dusted.

A loss is always disappointing, but if the weather and conditions weren't to agree with Kyle this week, I don't see too much to be upset about. Now it's time to take a few days off, and get ready to cement his place through practice.
