Watched a little of the doubles match on the archived live stream and it sounded as if the tennis courts were located in the middle of a traffic circle ....
Kyle eventually wins 1-6, 6-3, 6-4. The only set he dropped last week was in the opening round too, just seems a bit of a slow starter in tournaments.
The conditions looked very different to the final played two days ago. Colder with no sun and there had been a lot of rain. Maybe just took Kyle a set to adapt to the new conditions whereas his opponent had already had a couple of "practice" matches in the qualies.
Got there in the end though, which is all that really matters.
Just been reading through Kyle's thread from last week. I think the two post-US Open losses were during a time his girlfriend was ill in hospital in the US, so he must have had a lot on his mind. I believe he withdrew from the following tournament's to go and see her in Missouri. Glad to see that it appears all is going well now though, on both the personal and the tennis front.
I wish them both well, good to hear things are settling down. We for the most part only see the tennis side and of course that is entirely appropriate.
Unfortunately on that basis assumptions are made and 2 + 2 = 6.
The board is fantastic for keeping upto date with results but beyond that speculation on fluctuations in performance is just that. Personally I find the long term trends by far the most interesting, Steven knocked out a graph earlier in the year looking at James Wards career progression which in the round was pretty impressive.
Kyle's must be more so.
