Matt F and Ravi P have both just graduated from Drake.  Hopefully this means they're giving tennis a try (although they could just be doing this event for fun whilst finishing off their academics).  Seb B and Jack F-H are currently at North Florida.

And again, just for you Topemp:

FQR: Ravi PATEL (GBR) def. Boris Nicola BAKALOV (BUL) [5] WR 1485 (CH 621 in 2011) 6-4 6-2

And, guess what Topemp? He gets the draw next to the second seed - apart from teh fact the second seed has withdrawn - and so he gets a lucky loser - who just so happens to be Bakalov !

So Ravi gets to play him again

So work the magic again, Ravi.

Like Ravi, Chappell is another recent graduate (from TCU) so little can be read into his ranking...

Shame to see Jack go out so early, he has done very well at N.Florida and Bruno Savi from what I can tell is a bit of a journeyman.

Just to mention that 16 year-old qualifier from Canada (born in Israel), Shapovalov, has made the semis.

And two other of the semi-finalists are only 18 - another qualifier, Wiersholm, and Rybakov (both Americans)

According to Zootennis, Shapovalov lost to Henrik Wiersholm, who will play the final against Mr Rybakov, who is supposed to be joining Mr Norrie at university in January. Mr Wiersholm is currently at the University of Virginia. That University of Virginia team is ridiculously strong: it has six players with university singles rankings ... not counting Mr Wiersholm, who did not make the cut.
