Pity. They were serving at 5-3 up in the TB and lost 4 straight points cry

Don't get much more even than the total points won at the bottom there!

RR:  (1) Bob Bryan & Mike Bryan (USA/USA) CR 5 (2+3) defeated (4) Jamie Murray & John Peers (AUS) CR 15 (7+8) by 6-7(5) 7-6(5) [16-14] in a few seconds shy of an hour & 55 minutes

They had their chances in the second set tie-break, not to mention several match points in the MTB. hmm

Arg. They had 3 MP at 9-6 with the first two being on serve and could not get over the line.

John Peers - big time bottler. We now know why they are splitting up...

It does always seem to be Peers coming up small in the critical points of big matches lately.

I believe that was actually four match points because of the no ad rule.  They squandered even more after that.  cry

Heartbreaker. Peers indeed with 3/4 bad misses at the end. That miss at 9-8 was a horror.

Yep, can see why Jamie needed to move on; Peers excellent until the vital moments :(

Oh missed it all, what a heartbreaker.

The duo seemed so well set up points and rankingwise ( both individually overal and as a pair for 2015 ( for the end of this season and into 2016 with what they had achieved earlier this year and no points at all to defend from Shanghai, Paris and the WTF.

While I rather disagreed with the suggestion in ( I think it was ) the Paris thread that they may have 'shut up shop' for the season with their upcoming split, I can well imagine it taking vital % points away from them in close matches.

We shall see what the future brings. Experiencing one's first Slam final and WTF and falling short might well make folk stronger, particularly someone who had been badly effected before, for any next time. Anyway the die has been cast ...

PS : they will finish the season as the number 4 pair unless Herbert & Mahut win the title, in which case they will drop to number 5.

PPS : make that definitely number 4 as Herbert & Mahut are beaten in their final group match and are out.
