Well done to Mr Evans. A fine win - and as others have noted, a phenomenal rankings rise this year. Now a little Champaign celebration to end the year?

185 is Dan's highest ranking since August 2014 and it means that he has risen 578 places since the end of June (and yes, when I said 'nearly 500' yesterday, I couldn't count LOL)

The 'phenomenal' rise over the last 4 to 5 months is of course really as result of Evo showing what few doubted Evo was capable of, the 700 plus ranking being absolutely anomalous.
Still great to see as many may have doubted such a return. Personally, I just err forgot to put him in my GB top 10 predictions

That's a pretty lame excuse Indi. Can I use it too ?

Indeed Dan's ranking was anomalous, and his capabilities still considerably exceeding the general level of tournaments he was playing. I always believed Dan could rise back through the rankings if he chose to commit himself to it, but to see him actually do it has made me very happy indeed. It's one thing to know you're a big fish in a futures draw, but to consistently win the matches to get you back to where you belong is another. Now Dan has come through unseeded to win a challenger title (taking out the No.2 seed in R2 let's not forget) and his confidence must be sky high. The only shame for me is that the DC final is on clay, as I would have enjoyed having him and Kyle battle it out for the second spot. Nevertheless, a superb week for Mr Evans - long may it continue
Couldn't Captain Smith convocate him anyway? He deserves it.
I'm still hopeful that whoever Leon chooses, he'll have all 3 of Dan, Kyle and James at least in and around the camp. It's a team competition at the end of the day, and we wouldn't have made it this far without Dan and James, even if Kyle appears to have put himself firmly in the driving seat for the team itself
Also, just a bit of fun I know, but Dan is now World No.2 in the list of highest-ranked players who have played 15 or less tournaments, second only to Pierre-Hugues Herbert. I think he should put that on his Twitter bio

I think everyone who has been involved for the past few years should have the option of being part of the team set up for the final. In some cases they won't take up that option, Liam is on a late season scramble for points, but the invitation should be made. It wouldn't surprise me if Dan declined to be part of the set up if he wasn't in contention to play. There are only 6 weeks between this week's challenger in Champaign and the start of next season and so an extra week in Belgium might not be his highest priority. After all the tennis he has played since May I am guessing he would want at least 2 weeks off before starting his 2016 preparations.
Evo's resurgence continues !! 2016 could be a big year, maybe top 100, fingers crossed anyway, because his tennis fully deserves a slot at the top of the table.
