Did Joe S not make qualifying sign in due to his doubles exploits?

At least Joe S with David O'hare made the doubles, just! Last direct acceptance. Broady/Evans & Smethurst/Walsh in qualifying. I'd imagine Darren could have found someone with a higher ranking than Dan to enter with and would have got in.

Now 6-6 in the 2nd set tiebreak (not sure whether that was preceded by a set point or a break point)

... but now it's definitely a set point as Dan gets another mini-break

... 8-6

Dan had a set point at 6-5 on Hiltzik's serve. In the first set Dan won just 8 points against serve compared to 23 in set two, so the momentum definitely seems to be with Dan.

If it was, it isn't anymore. Dan down a double break at *0-4

Don't you just love a roller coaster, or a Russian Mountain as we call them in Spanish.
