The change of surface also did no halm. I hope he hits the dirt regularly over the next couple of years it seems to be the surface he breaks through a level on before consolidating on the other surfaces.
After Kyle's post US Open difficulties I would have accepted a SF this week without a moments hesitation. Anything else is a bonus now as far as I am concerned.

Agreed, but as the highest ranked player left in, I'm hoping he can go a couple more and secure that MD place at Oz
To be honest I've been looking forward to tournament for weeks and would have been disappointed with anything less after playing so well in Paris, I got a bit of stick for wanting to see him play through qualifying at the U.S. Open but really felt that was his level on that surface. There is a chance to win this although not the absolute motivation for being here ie it's DC prep, but the points would be nice as would DE into the AO MD
Brilliant news to get back to. Kyle is doing a lot this week to get the DC spot. Would one more win secure Kyle's AO MD spot?
No, probably not. He's defending 48 challenger final points this week. The (+H) here would get 55 for a final and the additional net 7 additional points take him to 525 points, currently equivalent to WR 108. Win the title though and the 90 points would take him to 560 points, currently equivalent to WR 102, and nothing further to defend this year. Then you're talking
Whatever, great stuff in itself from Kyle in all the circumstances.
