RE: Week 45 - ITF ($10K) - Heraklion, Greece Hard

Maia is on the stream and I have seemingly jinxed her again. As with the QF last week she started strongly, building a 4-2 lead before being pegged back and forced into a tie break that she led 5-3 before losing it 7-5.

Hopefully she can regroup and pull out a win. She's counter punching well and is very much in this contest.

1 set-all, which seems about fair on what I've seen.

First set was 6-7 (the tie break was 5-7).

... not that it matters, I suppose.

Whatever the first set score, de Cesare is certainly now having a bit of a meltdown in the third.....

2-0 to Maia, not sure the other girl has won a point.....

At 4*-5 down, the longest game ever, with Maia having an easy chance to come in, and didn't, getting the wrong side of a dodgy line call, saving some MPs with great gutsy play, saving some with endless loopy balls, her opponent getting a dead let cord, seemed like it would never end - but, finally, Maia lost it ..... :(

That was a tough match.

Good to see Maia making some progress on the senior tour. This her and Gabby will shoot up the rankings over the next few months. Injury permitting.
