The stats showed Evo got same first serve percentage but just lost more behind both first and second cant really argue that he was unlucky, just outplayed - same as his loss last week. Bit gutted but enjoyed seeing a bit of Evo and Marcus play after my late shift today.
Watched the final set of slimbomb's match. Two serve and volleyers and error strewn. Marcus big serve didn't really make an impact and Marcus is normally very good with his volleying, but made lots of errors at the net. A fully match fit and confident Marcus would have won that match.
Given Marcus has just come back from a lengthy layoff, I did wonder if yesterday's 3 setter was affecting him in the final stag
Only 4 aces today from Marcus - I think the Marcus of yesterday would have won that match (he served 16 yesterday).

Of course better, more anticipatory players tend not to get aced as much.
Quite likely a combination of Marcus not serving as well and Kozlov getting to more.
These matches should though have helped shake of some rust for Marcus so hopefully he can get some positive results and points over the coming couple of weeks.

I really didn't get the impression that Marcus was going for big serves yesterday - it looked to me like he was either protecting a minor injury or had made a decision to go for less on his first serve and get in behind it well.
I didn't get to see Dan's match but am encouraged by the reports that it was a good standard. Let's hope for a similar high standard next week, along with a kinder draw.
Some super shot-making from Escobedo, against Liam, who wasn't playing badly, means Liam loses the second set in a tie-break and it's into a third......
Well, it's a real shame but Escobedo deserved that set - he was that bit closer to the line than Liam who kept getting forced too far back, and his shots had a real weight and speed to them.
