ITF tale updated - Shrewsbury looks deserted with the lack of GB players. I was planning to watch some tennis there and at Liverpool(junior) that week, but the lack of GB entries is not very appealing. However i'm sure we will utilise all the wildcards and qualifying wildcards.
I'm sure I will be there. There are plenty of British entries among the alternates, but with not much else going on there is a much higher calibre field than for the Bath 25K the week before.
The original plan was to do a day of qualifiers and then first round day at Shrewsbury and a couple of days at the junior grade 5 at Liverpool which is a good place to go if you want to see up and coming talent. It's only in it's third year, but some very good players have appeared - Jodie Burrage. Luke Oakley, Eliz Maloney, Ali Collins, Megan Davies etc. This year the youngsters to keep an eye on include Ewan Lumsden, Jack Draper, Brandon Murphy, Aiden McHugh, Lauryn John-Baptiste, The Martins sisters, Esther Adeshina, Olivia Elliot.
If anyone wants to recommend anyone else to watch from the list it would be appreciated as there are a lot of names I don't recognise.
Katy Dunne unsurprisingly is a late withdrawal at Shrewsbury, which means we have no direct entries.
Only two wildcards issued Tara Moore and Emma Hurst, (Tara may get in directly) which indicates two players who have not entered/withdrawn may get wildcards - Katie Boulter and Katie Swan?
I assume Lisa and Freya and Beth have used all their wildcards now.
