And finally it appears we really will have 10 in the top 250 on Monday!

Live rankings has Arthur Fery as live ranked 249 on 236 points with only one player left that can overtake him - Gonzalo Bueno (PER) if he wins the ATP Challenger 50 Porto Alegre title.

And so it came to.pass. Arthur is currently officially WR 249.

Ok, cool thats good, we made it. Where is Jaggy these days?!

And Arthur is now up to live ranked 246 with his Challenger QF in Taiwan.

GB #11 Charies Broom is up to live ranked 285 with his Nottingham M25 title points due to add on Monday.

There's still 21 players in the top-500

But the problem now is that there's a big gap in the pyramid

Currently we only have two players in the 100-200 range - and one of those is Andy who (bless) doesn't really count now in terms of rankings going forward

So only Billy in the 'feeder' group for the top-100

Of course, the 200-250 group is pretty jammed packed - seven players - so a few of those getting back in form/marking up some good wins would make a big difference

And 12 in the top 250 as a result of Jake moving up this week. Interesting to see who pushes on over the summer as Andy retires and presumably departs the rankings in the next month or so?

The next target should be getting as many as possible into US Qualifying. The cut-off date I believe is 29/07/2024.

Jake should make the top 200 in short order and I expect PJ and Mr Monday will not be too far behind.

Yes, this seems the most important - and the main problem with having so many in the 200-250 range - there's such a huge difference between making GS qualis and not

 Possibly. And hopefully.

But the likes of Ali Gray and Toby Samuel and several others were also touted to do the same and didn't quite manage it (yet ..... )

Just looking at live rankings
Men
12 in top 250
20 in top 500 and a couple close to getting in
Women
9 in top 250
12 in top 500, but at least 6 more who should get in over next few months.

Our latest total of 12 women in the top 500 is really pretty awful, with just the 3 between WR 250 and WR 500. Such as Katie S being out injured, plus Eden and Naiktha not producing and still no sign of Anna B, has left currently so little depth after our top 250 players.

It certainly should get better again over the coming months, with hopefully Katie able to climb back up the rankings and more particularly with such promising younger players that we now have in the 500s and 600s. At least 6 more into the top 500 over the next few months strikes me as a tad over optimistic, but let's hope to see a few more and for that to continue over the next year or two. It would be very welcome.

Feels like we should have a lot of players in US Open qualies, maybe 6 or 7 men?

The women's is certainly a mess at the moment

And although players like Naiktha and Eden (and Freya) have the ability to be top-500, and aren't miles off, I wouldn't want to be banking on it

In terms of the Big Three in juniors, another problem is that both Mimi and Hannah have big junior points to defend coming up so I don't know how much they will focus on juniors instead of adults

Now, Mimi is 2007 and only has a year left in juniors so may well be letting juniors drop, but Hannah - I'd expect - still has important ambitions in singles and will want to keep her juniors ranking up

Either way, their focus might be a bit split (this applies less to Mika who doesn't have significant points to defend this year)

Players like Millie R and Ella are definitely on a trajectory to be top-500 soon (and obviously Katie Swan if fit)

Others may well get it together too but it's difficult to know quite where the college girls are at, or Ranah's health, etc

Personally, I'd love it if if one of the low-profile faves suddenly got it going and jumped up a level, like Alice Gillan

Yes, Millie R is a good shout to make the top 500 and then to push on further.
