By the looks of it, a SF or better for Kyle makes it 19 in the Top 500. Then we just need Harry W to win his 15k this week and we are home and dry.

Harry this week is the key. Hes down for this week and then entered for no more. Kyle is also down for the following week.

Does Harry need to win Greece or will a final be enough? He is showing at 69 points on live ranks with his oncoming points from last week. An M15 carries 8 for RU doesnt it, so that would put him in a melee for 500th? Feels like we need Harry to take the title...

Kyle would get 8 for a semi in Portugal this week, wouldnt he? That might carry it but feels like he may need that and a round more or another run at it next week?

Cut off is 77 so 8 for Kyle is enough (for now) but a couple more points would give him a buffer.  As for Harry W, 8 for a final place would put him in that melee for 77 and then it is touch and go.  A win would seal it for sure.

Not sure anyone else is in the mix now.  It's down to those two.  Ali G is down for India on the 27th Now but was also down on the 20th Nov and withdrew.  I am expecting him to withdraw from the 27th Nov tournament as well. Given points coming off, he would probably have had to win both anyway.

Yep.  Win or bust. Basically.

Hold you horses people. I may be clutching at straws here but Mark Whitehouse is also in the frame. He has just qualified for the Challenger MD in the USA having got in as an alternate. If he reaches the final, that puts him on 81 points.

Unlikely, but mathematically possible.

37 showing in top 1000 in live rankings, so the pyramid is growing.

The other thing to note is that lots of players are pushing on when they break the top 500, so much that I don't see any of the 18 players dropping out for at least another 3 months.

20 in the top 500 will happen, just a matter of when.
In fact I wouldn't be surprised if we get close to 25.

Edmund, Jubb, Gray, Wendelken are more than capable and there are a few others knocking on the door like Fearnley

Yes, meh to 20 in the top 500, clearly a dawdle.

It should be 10 in the top 250 vs 25 in the top 500

Yes, but that's the problem, isn't it? biggrin

It's all a question of when......

You're the optimist who predicted it would definitely happen before the end of October 2022 - whereas Jon thinks we're all going to be long in our graves before we ever see it....

And everyone else is somewhere in the middle smile

I just think it's wonderful it's been so close for so long.....

Oh I think we will do it one day, just not soon. Basically, we need players in number with the potential to move up faster than those above them move down. Can the players Paulisi mentions get in before the likes of Dan Cox or Giles Hussey or Charlie Broom go down, through poor form or injury- cos some of them will go down! And my concern is not just getting those guys up and hitting 20 for a week or two, but sustaining it with true top 500 level players , so we need maybe 8 candidates to get the 20 and sustain it. We probably need 25-30 genuine top 500 candidates to sustain it. We only need one or two quickly to achieve it for that one week only - but I am not convinced yet!!

It will happen and in our respective life times! Ha. But not in the next few months, I dont think.

Hadnt heard that Re Dan but wouldnt surprise me. 2.5 years after his comeback seems to have been stuck around the 400 area in the rankings. Not been that successful when he has forayed into challengers which I guess is the level hed want to be at to see a point of playing at this stage.

I see the cut off has jumped to 81 pts, so an Ali Gray title this week will still be touch and go.
