Close match but Naomi dominant on break points, both saving (8/10) and taking (4/5). Only 2 aces.

First serve percentage 59% winning 74/50

Lost out 6-7 6-4 6-4

Won that first set in a TB but otherwise losing her serve 8 times did not quite fit in with her recently discussed Karlovic methods. So her serve clearly not functioning as she would want.

Pity, been a frustrating long wait and then two matches in the day ( and apparently doubles still to come ). Kerkhove played her R1 match yesterday.

I imagine there's a small element of James award syndrome. She knows how close she is to breaking the top 100 and when seeded No.2 in a tournament the weight of expectation is on her shoulders.

Hope she can crack it!
