Is that how it is pronounced? I would have said she should have gone to Macon Sunday to pray for good weather.
When I was a child, I always assumed the French Mâcon had a ç in it and hence was pronounced Massawn until I was on a train that stopped there and realised the c didn't have a cedilla at all!
I believe the American version is pronounced Maykon though - it always seems very silly to me when, having named places after French towns with nice-sounding names, they go and make them sound horrible
