Week 43 - ITF ($10K) - Sharm El Sheikh, Egypt Hard

Great week from Emily and Lisa, not just making the final, but how they have done so.

Couple of British ringers I reckon

PS : Emily, if you should happen to read here, in between tennis, studying etc etc some collected forum thoughts on your future are in the err Tunisia thread

There has been a catastrophic plane crash, of a flight between Sharm and St Peterburg, Russia. There are 224 fatalities reported, with no survivors.

With 10 of this week's competitors being from Russia...

Indeed. Thoughts and prayers with all those affected. If the manifest released by the Russian Tourist organisations is correct, I didn't see any names that corresponded to the women playing in Sharm this week.

Grim news for so many reasons, not only do I feel for the families of the passengers but also the local community who have seen their livelihoods dessimated by local, regional and indeed international political machinations. Regardless of the cause a total heart sink all round.

Well, that was a turn around from last week when Lisa beat Emily 1&2.

Emily arb saves Mps and takes the title, 7-6(3) in the third.

Blinkin' brilliant week from both women - well done !!!!!!!!!!

(hope they're not too shattered when the high-tail it back to Lougborough......)

That's quite a surprise after last week's scoreline! Well done Emily - I think she'll soar about 250 places to around 750 when these points go on. Lisa should rise a similar amount over the next couple of weeks to about 800.
