Lisa has taken the first set, 6-2, against the Russian 20 year-old player who was WR 511 this time last year.

And Emily Arb has taken he first set 6-3 - against the top seed .... WR 326 and WR 224 last spring. !!!

That's a career best ranking scalp for Emily, I think On Helen's list (which always seemed very accurate outside the period when I wasn't tweeting any results as all, it says her previous best scalp was 354 last year and though I think Harriet was ranked higher than that when Emily beat her in the Chiswick SFs in August (since that was week Harriet had just set her current career high of 345), this beats both of them.

Super from Emily

Timely win too since it will preserve her being ranked, which she would have lost had she not got a point this week. Now perfectly safe in that regard until next August and in any event will surely be adding plenty long before then.

With Aimee Gibson ranked again on Monday week we will now have 32 ranked women.
