Clearly unexpected, but a Murray / Soares could be very interesting.
But then again they might not really click and Jamie of course had such a long time in getting settled after his previous regular partnership finished.
You & I both, Indy! That news came as quite a blow. The split also reported by the Beeb on its rolling sports news page:
Jamie Murray ends doubles partnership
Russell Fuller, BBC tennis correspondent
Jamie Murray's successful three-year partnership with John Peers will end after this year's World Tour Finals.
Both men have found new partners for 2016, and Murray will link up with Bruno Soares of Brazil - who has been as high as number three in the world.
Murray and Peers have won titles in Brisbane and Hamburg this year and were the runners-up at both Wimbledon and the US Open, allowing Murray to reach a career high ranking of seven.
Pity it doesn't shed any more light on the reason(s) for the break-up of the partnership.
I would have thought there was a reasonable chance that Jamie thought he could 'do better'.
John Peers was clearly the weakest player in the US final, wasn't selected for Davis Cup ..... maybe Jamie thought he should roll the dice and gamble ?

Yes, this crossed my mind pretty much right away.
If so, a gamble? Yes, and we've alluded to his previous issues with finding a partner.
But Jamie is clearly in very good form and was the stronger player in their Slam finals. He has sometimes seemed to lack the all out ambition of his brother ( hard comparison ! ) but I could see him at this stage just going for it and rolling that dice.
But for now we don't know the whys and wherefores.

Baffling decision if you ask me. After splitting with Butorac because he thought he could do better Jamie spent years in the relative wilderness before teaming up with John. I fear that this is a terrible mistake.
I think we are jumping to conclusions that this was Jamie's idea. Until he makes some comment to confirm either way it is just as possible that John is the one who wanted a change and Jamie is just making the best of the situation.

Regardless of who made the decision I find it baffling. They seemed a genuinely really good partnership who achieved far more together than either has done with other partners. Furthermore they seemed pretty evenly matched as players. While John was clearly the weak link in the two slam finals I don't think that reflected the vast majority of their matches.
Definitely a strange decision RJA. They have improved every year they have been together and have reached the point where I was genuinely excited at the possibility of them winning a slam next year. Hitting the reset button at this point is unlikely to be good for either of them so you would have to think there has been some drama behind the scenes.
By the way, if Jamie and John win their QF I reckon that they will go number 3 in the season's doubles race, since Dodig & Melo are not playing together this week and be just over 1,000 points behind the Bryans, who are number one and clearly also not playing together this week.
Be quite an end to win at the 02, also finish as the season's number one doubles pair and split ...
( the Bryans and Rojer & Tecau may have something to say about that though )
