Super news, just shows value of persistence, 11 defeats on the bounce was it, then wins a first round last week, and this week pitches up in Bangalore and takes the title.
Hope it can lead to more sustained decent run of form!
When the quality of opposition rose in the SF and final, Wardy upped his game and delivered. I am so, so pleased to see him bag the title here, that covers his points that are due off next Monday AND the following week from a challenger final and a semi last year, but perhaps more importantly, has to give him a huge confidence boost. Get in there James!!
Fantastic to see James get back to winning ways and even if this was a relatively weak Challenger, the Final (against a higher-ranked player who was 3-0 against him in the H2H) was a real test and came on the back of wins against a couple of players who would probably have beaten him or actually did beat him during his lean spell over the summer.
It's James's 4th Challenger singles title from 9 finals (2nd to Boggo among Brits this century on both counts) and at 28, he is the oldest Brit this century to win a Challenger singles title, 'overtaking' Barry Cowan, who won the Gramado Challenger in 2001 shortly before his 27th birthday.
At the start of this year, Brits were on a 6-match losing streak in Challenger singles finals but they have won all 5 this year (counting Aljaz only from the date of his official switch) and, perhaps even more significantly, in the 3-year period 2013-15, Brits have reached 14 Challenger singles finals compared to just 2 in the 3-year period 2010-12 (c.f. 10 in 2007-9, 14 in 2004-6, 11 in 2001-3)

Really, really chuffed with that. That final win is a good show of performance and beating a 0-3 top seed, but the trophy is worth more than the money, performances or even points. That's (hopefully) confidence.

Really happy for James. I think now his news is out in the open he's able to concentrate more on tennis again. I hope this is the start of a great run for him, ending the season off with a great DC.
nice to see James show some form before he's off to South America to spend some time on clay.
Again he shows his cunning and lack of ego in picking tournaments where the yield is high but the field relatively weak. Never too proud to travel and take the points
