I don't think anyone could get more unlucky with draws. When she was unranked she seemed to draw top seeds every time she qualified for tournaments. She got herself ranked, has improved by 500 ranking places and she still always seems to draw the top seed at the earliest possible opportunity...! A 4th seed at this level would be hers for the taking, but the 1st seeds always seem a little out of her reach.

Indeed. That's the way it's always been unfortunately. The fact that she is where she is at the moment despite all that (plus no wild card favours) is testament to her talent and game style. It's just a matter of time that her game will take her through regardless of who she meets as it's done before.
When you lose to a top seed in a close match previously and not that long ago, the onus is on you to come out the next time and try and do something. Given the way she plays - aggressive/offensive - that is to be expected (taking even more risks). So the score is irrelevant. It's more her intent towards developing a way to overcome tough situations - vis-a-vis - draws she always finds herself in that matters for progress. She has done it to be where she is now. It's simply a matter of time (soon) she will be doing it against such opponents. That's the beauty of aggressive/offensive mindset and game development.

With all the new French rankings having come out this week, Mirabelle has made a huge jump and is now 'numeroté' which means she's in the top echelon.
She also seems to have changed clubs, although only to one about the same size down the road.
I wonder though if she has some connection to Tunisia - she seems to go there a lot.....
I love your optimism, Tennislover, and as everyone knows I've been a mega and vocal Mirabelle fan for three or four years now. But I wonder if you slightly over-exagerate her aggressive-ness.....I certainly wouldn't rate her as more aggressive than Freya, say (although Mirabelle is smaller and so it's a different style of aggression).
