Going into this trip Evan had a grand total of 7 ranking points. So far, in this three week stretch, he has accumulated 25 points (and counting), a first singles title, a "Best Scalp" and a doubles title. He is of course still going in both singles and doubles this week so hoping to add to that list.
Really hope this is the start of a sustained upward trend. It will be interesting to see where he goes next.
Corrected while you were writing that, though at least I had him down as Austrian, not German - I always think of him as "Bastian Trinker the secret drinker" - based on no evidence, I hasten to add, though he could possibly be forgiven for a bit of secret drinking after only winning 4 games today
Also, even before today, it had struck me how similar Evan and Lloyd's weeks have been:
- they started the week ranked within 6 places of each other (804 v 810) - both are unseeded this week - both upset the 4th seed on the way to the SFs (Evan in R2, Lloyd in the QFs) - for one, that was (at the time) a career best win, the other his second best win
And now:
- both upset the 2nd seed in the semi-finals - both of their semi-final wins were career best scalps - both play the top seed in the Final - and to cap it all, one of those top seeds is called Jankovits, the other Jankovic!

Stunning result from Evan. The trip just keeps getting better and better. I wonder, with the momentum he has right now, if he wishes he was staying on in Tunisia for an extra week. There is another 10k at the same venue and he would have stood a good chance of being seeded.

Got to be honest just really pleased to see Evan staying healthy for a good period of time, getting going after such a prolonged period of inactivity just as one should be pushing on from junior to senior tennis makes this week all the sweeter. A few more weeks like this will set him up nicely for next year.
