RE: Week 41 - Greece F7 ($10,000) - Heraklion (Hard)

So, not to be for Toby but after a lengthy lay-off, this was a good performance against the nº3 seed. Definitely another Top 500 candidate if he can stay fit.

Lloyd and JWH won their doubles easily.

Lloyd now plays Alex Muller, one of the trio of top French juniors (mentioned earlier) who are all down in Greece and all won their first round matches.

JWH plays the guy Toby came close to beating.

Way to go, Lloyd

Josh WH has just lost a very tight first set in a TB. May well be a far quicker second set now.....

The British lads are having a good week in Greece. Good wins, 'good' losses, and points in the doubles:

Toby and Pete Bothwell won their doubles QF, 14 - 12 in the MTB !!!!

Lloyd and JWH took the easier route, winning 6-4 6-2

I would have high hopes for the Glasspool/JWH doubles partnership. Challengers by early next year, please!

All on serve in the third, 5-4* to Lloyd....

Hardly any break chances this match - now would be a good time, Lloyd...

That was a fair result, Lloyd had so many BP's in that third set that he couldn't take. Well done.

Difficult semi final in prospect though.

With 6 more points, Lloyd will be mid-700s.

Given he's only played nearly four months of competition, and scored 30 points, if one straight-lines that to a 12 months ranking, he would have 90 points and his 'true' ranking is about WR 450.

Obviously, he's been playing pretty much non-stop so you might need to add some down time into it (although actually it's been about 3.5. months, not 4, so that might give you the slack). And it takes no allowance of improvement, which you'd expect.

So it's almost certainly a WR 500 true ranking.

Smile, Bob !
