RE: Week 41 - Egypt F35 ($10,000) - Sharm El Sheikh (Hard)

*5-5 in the 2nd now. Scott just had MP on the Bellier serve but the Swiss player hangs on. That has been the only BP generated by either player in this 2nd set.

Scott runs away with the 2nd set tie break to win 7-5 7-6(1) to make it 3 Brits in the semis.

Great work all round guys.

The 6 points here so far takes Jamie Whiteford's ranking points from 7 to 13 points and will probably already see him into the top 1000 for the first time on Monday week.

Without adding Jamie, in Monday's rankings we had 30 in the top 1000..Clearly many of these are charged with reaching the top 500, 20 would be a nice number

Anyone know much about Jamie's story with such a period away from the circuit and now back in his mid 20s and reaching these levels ?

No idea on Jamie - one of the few I have never seen.

Bambo v Sakharov final?

I wondered about that too.

I saw that he was away for three years, which I thought would tie into uni. But the dates didn't seem to add up to normal uni ages.

I also know that he does quite a lot of modeling (another 'beau' GB tennis player smile) so I don't know if that had anything to do with it.....

He was at William and Mary.  Finished his eligibility in summer last year.
