Tables updated - will update once withdrawals have been completed and full visibility of the qualifying lists for the WTA events are available. I expect Naomi B and Jo Konta to be on these lists.

ITF tables updated - still no sign of qualifying lists for the WTA events. Jo Konta may have to qualify somewhere, but if she made the main draw may well be seeded....

I would expect Naomi B to play Linz as she is now back in Europe.

JoKo and Naomi Broady are in Linz Qualifying. TennisForum now has qualifying lists up for Linz and Lux the following week (both players appear in both lists).

Good stuff - JoKo is 2 out, so may make main draw

There is a difference between being second on the qualifying list and being second alternate for the main draw. When the entry list for the main draw came out, she was ranked 97 so safe to assume she is well down the alts list.

Nice to see Lucy's name back on the list.

Her blog says that 'due to family circumstances' she hasn't been able to play as many tournaments this summer as she'd planned but is now going to Israel for 2 weeks, back at Gosling for 1 week and then playing the three UK events

Good point. It's a shame because it looks like Huntuchova, Pironkova and Knapp have all pulled out.

So looks as if Robbo struggling with something again. Just hope again not the wrist, but some other part getting heavily used again.

We have tended to find out retrospectively such as re her spring problems that pushed her comeback back until the grass season.

I'm abit confused by this. What is the difference? Will her new ranking now count when she enters? I'm assuming that she entered recently as her plan before Wuhan seemed to be to stay in Asia.

The initial entry list and the qualifying list come out at different weeks - the qualifying list after the entry list, hence the different ranking.

My understanding is that if anyone drops out of the initial entry list then the next in line(alts gets the position). The qualifying list is totally separate to the entry list.

As Jo's ranking jumped significantly in such a short time, there is a good chance that she could be quite a long way down the main draw alts list, but towards the top of the qualifying list.
(it doesn't help that Spiceboy has stopped posting this information on the tennis forum now, so we don't have full visibility)

Main draw entry is six weeks before the tournament for WTA events, entry for qualifying is three weeks before. So when it was the cut off point for entry JoKo's US Open points had not gone on yet so she would have been well down the list if she entered at all. The list is set in stone so JoKo's subsequent ranking rise will not move her up the list. With her improved ranking she was second on the list for qualifying which comes out three weeks afterwards, but this is not the same as being second alternate for the main draw as that would be done on the rankings used for the main draw.

Not a bad thing for Jo to be in qualifying, it will allow her to get used to the indoor conditions without having to play the higher ranked players.
