RE: Week 39 - Challenger ($100,000), Tiburon, CA, United States (Hard)

Hoping Kyle's backhand is working tonight. It has been over a month since he has hit a ball in anger and sometimes after a long break, it takes his backhand a little longer to get back "in the groove" so to speak.

After a good start Edmunds game has become very error prone and Klein takes the first set. No disrespect to Klein but I'm certainly hoping Edmund can get through this and win, he really needs to cement his place in the top 100 and stake his claim for the DC final.

Doesn't seem very much on Kyle's first serve today. I'm sure there's usually a heck more pop than on many of these deliveries

Think the wind might be a factor. Difficult ball toss.

To be fair this is as good as I've seen brydan play, he's returning fantastically.

And also as Bob pointed out Kyle hasn't played competitively for a month so some rustiness is understandable, and there does appear to be some.

So Brydan, give him a good workout, but make sure he gets through to R2

Nope, game over just about at 6-4 *5-1.

To be fair Brydan was absolutely excellent in the wind.

Brydan solid, Kyle very rusty. Better player won.

Blimey. That went south quickly. Well done, Brydan, but come on, Kedders, pull your socks up!

Edmund out in quick fashion, he lost 10 of 11 games from being 4-2 up in the first set to lose 6-4 6-1. Klein played well but was helped by Edmund falling to pieces and being unable to cope with the gusty wind.

Its a shame I really wanted Edmund to get into the top 100, he's currently on the edges and although he only needs a few good performances before the end of the season to get into a safe position for the Australian Open he doesn't want too many more performances like todays.

Hope Kyle gets his mojo back fairly quickly, that was a pretty flat looking rusty performance and the backhand was certainly off as Bob feared.

Good efficient performance by Brydan though.

Gutted for Kyle, not his day, Mr Klein can be awkward opponent though.

Well played Brydan, it would be good to see him win it. Kyle although nowhere near peak form had enough opportunities to win ugly, but not the mindset. I think he needs to forget Davis cup and just get back to the grind and what will be will be.
