Unflippin' believable.

For the second week, Matt gets the top seed - and not just any top seed but the World Ranked 133 player (!!!!!!) with a CH of 111 a couple of months ago.

A top 150 player - and a wildcard !!!! :::(((

If he keeps this up any longer, we'll be calling him Neil Pauffley.

short does seem seriously under ranked - took the first set against the top seed.

the spaniard is serving though at *5-4 to take it into a decider

To be be fair, Matt has spent many years now not getting above a CH of 708 with some occasional very good looking wins.

This certainly does look good today, but in general he does seem a 700s / 800s player. If he can find more to break beyond that, great.

He only went and beat the top seed in a tie breaker.

Yay, well done Matt

Now, hope he can build on that for a really good week.

That's a stunning win from Matt, who was a break down in the 3rd set - a career best ranking scalp by a long way unless he has done something spectacular while I haven't been paying as close attention as I used to.

L32: (Q) Matt Short WR 887 beat (1) Adrián Menéndez-Maceiras (ESP) WR 132 (CH 111 in Jun) 6-4 4-6 7-6(2)

L16: (Q) Matt Short WR 887 v Gonçalo Falcão (POR) WR 1178 (CH 961 in 2012)

Just seen this and am VERY happy - have a soft spot for Matt and also think he's under-ranked

However, he's often lost an 'easy' match after a good victory (hence the supposed under-ranking?) so we'll see . . .

Does anyone know what his previous best career scalp was? Looks a great win by Mr Short though.
