That win could be really important in consolidating her own mental progress. Vika will be tough, of course, but it's a good opportunity to 'have a go' - nothing ventured!
To be fair you don't get into a seeded 13 - 16 ( Petkovic ) section of the draw, and hence have a likely more beatable seed without then having the other seed in that first theee rounds section being a 1-4 seed in Halep so that's fair dos.
Having an clearly underranked Azarenka around though is a bit unfortunate in assisting progression. I'd say though she's still short of her best and I'm actually kind of looking forward to seeing how Jo does.

Yes it should be fascinating seeing how the match goes. Hopefully with Azarenka being a star name it will be played later in the day and a decent time for us to watch and not the early hours of the morning.
Probably generally yes, since Vika still making her way back, but as with many of the players to a fairly large extent it depends what day we're talking about
Who was it that knocked her out of the USO? Is Vika better than whoever that was?
Petra Kvitova beat Johanna Konta and Azarenka has had a lot of injuries in the last few years otherwise she would easily be in the top ten. Kvitova can be either great or pretty average especially if she has one of those off days with loads of unforced errors.
Azarenka is generally a bit more consistent in her play but is certainly a class opponent and she could easily win this event which shows how tough Kontas task will be.
I would have backed Konta against anyone else in terms of those unseeded given her fantastic recent run but I put Azarenka as strong favourite for the match. Konta will have to play her best ever match to win.
