RE: Week 39 - WTA Premier 5 - Wuhan, China - Hard

Venus Williams playing very well on the BP's, the score 5-2 doesn't really tell how competitive the match has been. Disappointingly if Konta wins this match she won't be able to play Beijing because she won't make the start of qualifying. You would think the least they could do was to offer her a WC.

If she wins this match she is guaranteed 380pts and $114k with the opportunity to get to a Premier final and get far more points and money.

She could probably do with a rest anyway as if she wins she will play atleast 7 matches here

Second serve and an UE. 0-15
Longer rally but another UE to go. 0-30
UE from Venus. 15-30
Another second serve but wins the point with some great groundies. 30-30
Longish rally but another UE 30-40
16 shot rally (or thereabouts) with Venus making the UE 40-40
DF Ad Williams.
a second serve and UE set Williams

A lot of good things about Jo's first set but not getting enough first serves in. Just seems to have Venus in her head. She needs to play her A game to win this - and she can.

Real shame Konta couldn't get it back to 5-5, Venus Williams would have been under a lot of pressure then. Kontas not serving well today and I think shes too worried about Venus's return. I think she needs to forget who she's playing, I know that's difficult but Venus is having to work hard and Konta could still win this match if she makes a few more first serves.

Jo fought back well in that first set after a slow start; hopefully she's really into this match now and can turn the tables :)

And by getting there via another break, Jo will have the advantage of serving 1st

With Venus' illness, you'd have to make JoKo big favourite in the third, despite her having played so many matches

Keep going Jo. You can do it. I am a BIG fan of the Williams but will have to put that aside for this match . It's Jo's turn to shine.
