Sorry for Ms Azarenka, but glad that it was Ms Konta who could benefit.

Wuhan ( not Wigan my text preduct override ! ) is 7 hours ahead of BST so 18.30 is 11.30 am UK, but yes don't how likely that 18 30 time will end up.

Thanks - I'm obviously having trouble counting!!

Looking at our top 3 players win/loss record for the season, it really does highlight how many fewer singles matches Hev has played this year compared with previous years and with the other 2, hopefully that means she will be fresh for the start of next season.

Jo played 67 inc this week W44 L23
Hev 47 W24L23
Naomi 68 W40 L28.

Yes, though the difference with the other two is very much more down to having won less matches than played less tournaments ( the number of losses are not that dissimilar and Naomi is always liable to be high for tournaments ).

Now Jo and Naomi have been in great form and overall more often at lower levels, so that is quite a tough comparison. But still they have very largely played more matches by doing that winning thing.

Players have a close season to renew freshness, I wouldn't be looking to essentially rather too many early exits for optimism in that regard, rather novel take though it may be Anyway, by whatever means, hopefully Heather will be more in the groove next season.

Here's hoping Heather has plenty left in her tank then for at least one big tournament run before year end...like she did in 2012 with her Osaka title smile

I can't quite believe this, but an early break puts Jo 3-0 up.......

A brilliant start from Konta who breaks Halep and is 3-0 ahead. She's also served some excellent second serves and her groundstrokes have been very powerful.

I wonder does anybody else sit there like me and think 'what on earth has happened to Jo'. She's on an absolute wave of momentum at the moment

Yeah, me.  Less than a year ago if a match was tight she'd look like a rabbit in the headlights and collapse.  I was expecting her to be another talent who just couldn't produce it when it mattered.  Sooo pleased to be proved wrong!!

In thruth, we know quite a part if it and she's been very open about a lot of it being in the head, and having received great help. Though to seemingly turn things as she has is still quite something

And some seem to think there's rather more happened technically as well than she suggests.

The best set of tennis Konta has ever played IMO, brilliant. This wasn't a case of Halep playing badly but Konta playing superbly.

Wow....Jo wins 1st set 6-3

So she is now playing by far her best tennis aged 24, perhaps the LTA should take note, when they limit their funding.
