Certainly ironic that the LL he beat got a better draw (on paper)
Trying not to get too ahead of myself but to be honest if Dan plays his best tennis and gets in Lopez's head I can see him at least running him close. Any ideas when Dan will be playing?
Yeah, tough draw for Dan, but he's beaten players seeded way higher than Floppy in 1st round GS events... What ever the outcome of his next match, he has won worthwhile points, a sack load of cash and good media coverage which his sponsors will be delighted with.
I have to say I really wasn't predicting such success after his tame defeat in Bangkok. I couldn't sleep last night so I watched Mischa Zverev snatch defeat from the jaws of victory against Taylor Fritz whilst I kept an eye on the score of Dan's match. I haven't checked the stats but there did seem to be a load of breaks and a lot of deuces. There were comments about his serve in previous rounds. Can anybody who has been watching give their opinion on this?
Great result for Dan especially when you consider where he was in the middle of last year - ranking over 700 scratching around in 10ks, and lots of people thinking he was close to throwing in the towel.
If he can stay focused will be great to see just what he can do in 2016....

First 2 rounds were in extreme heat and then 15 degrees and gusty winds. His serve is good, but it's just that. Not brilliant which means a lot are returned. His serve in the last match was defo the best he served so far this tournament. I didn't feel watching that he missed too many first serves. stats will probably prove me wrong but he was able to keep Frat guessing. Evans had to wear a hat to start with when serving from south end, he got rid of it half way through second set when sun was higher. There were moments when he was put under pressure, 3rd set 3rd game comes to mind where he struggled but I think that was when Frat stepped in a lot and caused both players to miss under the pressure of the game.
