RE: Week 38 - ITF ($75K) - Albuquerque, USA Hard

Generally speaking it is worth playing to your strengths and developing your weaknesses, at last Naomi has grasped that she has a serve that while not matching the Isners or Andersons of this world, will seriously disadvantage the majority of opponents outside of the top 50.

There is also a living to be made so the playing to strengths aspect is a pragmatic approach that will hopefully allow her the time in the future to work on the weaknesses, but let's face it she is never going to break any records for speed over 5m (although incremental progress has been made and there is potential for more)!

There is a subtle nuiance appreciated by most on the board between pointing out areas for improvement on a background of a substantial leap forward and pointing out the bleeding obvious out of context. Exercising a degree of emotional intelligence will moderate the outpouring of bile from the self confessed, scarf wearing, horn blowing, somersaulting whit less cheerleaders of which I am one.

It may seem far fetched but it's not beyond the realms of possibilty that Naomi could be British number 1 in 9 months time. Clearly Naomi plays the tennis, and her talent and ability has to be there in the 1st place, and she is really feisty and competitive, but I have to give a little credit to Fitzy, who must have learnt an awful lot during his 6 months in Woz's camp, a player who maximises all her ability and trains like a trojan.
