RE: Week 38 - Turkey F38 ($10,000) - Antalya (Hard)

It seems a little worrying that Liam is playing Futures but I trust that he has a good strategy worked out.

To be fair he was pretty active on the Challenger circuit through the first half of the year and for whatever reason he kept losing close matches in the first or second round and I am sure he feels the need to change the script. I know he needs to defend a fair few points through the end of the year and perhaps the best way for him to do that is pick up some points, rhythm and confidence in Futures first before a final push at Challenger level to keep his ranking at least inside the top 250 and get into qualifying for the Australian Open.

He made rapid progress last year and so hitting a few bumps this year is not that surprising but I have always been impressed by his attitude and commitment and I still think he will be a top 100 player in the next couple of years barring injury or disaster.

So close for Bambo !! I like Liams strategy, wins breed confidence, and he's only lacking at Chally level because of a little dip in confidence, not level/ability, also if you win futures events you get more points than if you're knocked out in R2 of a chally. Its not a backwards looking strategy, but its one that makes 100% commonsense.

That only assuming Phil he wins the tournament otherwise at 10ks there is little benefit.

Worth noting that his schedule for the next four weeks is this, another 10k, a 15k, then back to Challengers.

The downside is that if he gets wins simply because he is playing weaker opposition it doesn't deal with the problems that are causing him to lose week in week out at challenger level.

confidence helps though and remembering how to win key points and the associated pressure can only benefit him. I thoroughly agree with his scheduling and it also reduces the risk in the ranking drop. He has to look at making Aus Open qualifying now.

I'm not convinced that all we have with Liam is a little dip in confidence, though wins can indeed help that aspect. The more test will remain getting back to winning at challenger level.

But all the best to him, he seems a really good lad.
