So, the squad against Japan is Andy,Jamie,Kyle,Evo and Dom. No surprises there.

Very much as expected. But there is one change I would love to see this year. I would very much like to see the Doubles players, play the doubles. I understood and supported the reasoning behind playing Andy in the doubles last year. He was on a mission to win us the DC. This year, I think it is apparent that he is unlikely to play much beyond this first round tie, (maybe I'm wrong on that) so it would be beneficial to see other members of the squad step to the fore. Let's be honest, a partnership of Jamie/Dom would start as strong favourites in the doubles anyway.
Could be a very close encounter. Nishikori is a more difficult opponent than any Andy played last year. Nishioka has had some strong results recently and is an obvious talent.

I'd go Andy and Jamie ( unless we're up 2-0 ), no messing, while accepting that Jamie and Dom isn't exactly messing and would still be favourites. Win this tie first and foremost ( and again I would accept there is an argument for resting Andy from the doubles just in that context )
Actually, I think that it's quite likely that that option won't be there anyway in the final team with Dom being left out.

I'm pretty certain Andy's only going to play this tie, my only issue would be is Jamie/Dom a good partnership, if it is I would 100% agree. I know who will be making the final decision though ;)
How many points could Evo and Edmund get for winning a live condom?
I seem to remember it is similar to that of a challanger final appearance?? I'm sure someone said you can get points for losing too??
40 points for a live rubber win ( yes, not far short of the 48 for a 50K challenger runner up ).
Or indeed 10 points if you compete in at least one live rubber without a win "for participation".
Problemo re the 40 points of course is that the GB #2 will play the Japan #1 ( presumably Nishikori ) on Day 1 and we would hope that it will be all over before the final rubber would be due.

Err, to correct myself, apparently none any more.
According to the ATP site ranking info "beginning in 2016 no points will be awarded for Davis Cup ties" ( the 2015 Davis Cup points continue to remain with players until their 52 week anniversary ).
In a way, I think that's fairer. It always did seem a bit harsh that people who were themselves quite good but on teams where they were the only person and hence couldn't get beyond some obscure group (eg Marcos Baghdatis ... he currently a finalist in Dubai, yet!) got no points for playing Davis Cup, while others got points for playing in the World Group because their overall team was better. Does make it more of a sacrifice for the players, though. Not that it mattered much for people at the very top - but it did make a difference for the lower ATP/Challenger-level members of teams.
