Crumbs that was exhausting just watching. Fantastic match; it looked a toughie on paper and so it proved. Respect to both players and congrats once again to Andy for finding a way :D :D
I'm off for my ice bath now....;)

Having won it last year, I wasn't sure how committed Andy would be this year especially with baby, Olympics.

I don't think anyone will doubt his commitment now.

Missed a lot of it  but what an amazing match from both players.

I thought this might be a little like after the lord mayors show, maybe not ;) Tricky match up next against Serbia to say the least, I wonder whether they might let us host the tie so that it can be played on grass straight after Wimby, makes good sense I'd say ;)

Yes agree, total respect. I've never really watched Kei before with any real commitment. I was impressed, he did bottle abit to give Andy the first two sets without too much of a fight (in the last game of each set), but overall he seemed to have grit and determination. I'm totally exhausted after watching that. I had to go out for a walk straight afterwards to try and get rid of some of the adrenaline.
I'm looking forward to the rest of the matches, especially now Andy's committed. I would love to see him and Djokers fighting it out in a DC atmosphere.

Quarter Finals ( seeded teams * ) :

Serbia* home to Great Britain*
Italy home to Argentina*
Czech Republic* home to France*
USA home to Croatia

Tricky Troicki won his deciding runner vs Nedovyseva in straight sets for Serbia.

Last year's losing finalists, Belgium, lost at home to Croatia.

John Peers played doubles with Captain Hewitt for Australia vs USA, losing to the Bryans in 5 sets.

I don't know how he does it. Much like a certain USO final, the momentum was against him and the match looked like it was going one way, but as he does so well he managed to raise his game in the final set to steer it home.

Yep I can imagine a road trip to beat all road trips, I wonder whether Serbia will play that match in suburbia.

Fantastic match, fantastic atmosphere. Very surprised it wasn't sold out.

I had a horrible thought the matches would go on close to midnight. There were people near me having to leave for trains at 6pm.

What a throughly enjoyable game of tennis

Top 5 have the complete skill set. Kei 10mph short on his serve of being a great but once he's hit his second shot he's right up there.

Well that was quite something!
We spent the day visiting my mother-in-law, and my extra special gift to her today was to turn on the TV and let her watch the one and only Andy Murray!!! (Fortunately she's used to my tennis addiction!!).
Full credit to both players - they gave it everything.
Well done GB!

Just a couple of thoughts about why there were empty seats -

Tickets were extremely expensive - I paid 75 in the gods and 60 yesterday
Sunday train service is limited and unreliable - I was unable to get the train in today due to lack of direct trains early and late. There were thousands on the train on Saturday.
Birmingham is not a hotbed of tennis - Edgbaston is always had empty apart from Finals day
Arena pricing for food and drink was extortionate.

Exhausted from all that jumping up and down and cheering. What a fighter - brilliant day, excellent weekend in Birmingham. As paulisi says above - very expensive (cat 1 tickets Friday and today £97.60) Would have liked to see how Dan coped in his home town in a 5th rubber but was relieved that Andy won in the end.
