Conceivably to do with the fact that Dom's dad, Andrei, is Polish & that he speaks the language? wink

Yep, Stircrazy - thank you. smile

And no Nishikori in the Japanese pairing.  First set in the bag by 6-3 in 34 minutes. smile

This WR 147 guy that's stepped in is not bad. Good to give him such a maximum break as this.

So, the doubles rubber is wrapped up in straight sets like the two singles yesterday, with Team GB winning by 3, 2 & 4 in an hour & 46 minutes. smile

Irritating as Bouncy & Legs can be in their Davis Cup match commentaries, it was nevertheless good to hear them extolling the virtues of watching top-class doubles earlier in the match.

Kazakhstan 2-1 up on Serbia...

Has it been pre-determined as to where we would play Kazakhstan if we both win?

Stuart Frazer tweeting that if it Kazakhstan win, GB would be at home but if Serbia win, we will be away.

Ah yes,

Britain vs. Kazakstan would be in GB in quarters if they both got there as lots were drawn beforehand.

I was looking at the lower leagues, and noticed that Laurent Recouderc is now playing for Andorra, when did this change of nationality happen???

This had completely passed me by. But I read that he's been the main coach for the Andorra Tennis Federation for the last 4 years or so, and living there, (he came rather from that neck of the woods, based round Toulouse). There's quite a few newspapers articles about it - but all in some Andorran Catalan - not a great deal of help - although you can guess a fair bit.

From what I can gather, the official change came towards the end of last year - guess he'd never played a rubber for France so it wasn't a problem re the new rules.

easy win in the doubles - after the boys won got the break in the second set, there was an air of inevitability in the match and the atmosphere mimicked that.

It's steep up in the Gods. Poorly signposted from the station and my train got cancelled on the way back, but other than that a decent day.

Far be it from me to wish ill of Andy, but there is a part of me that would love to see Dan win this in a deciding rubber in front of his home crowd.

How about having him win a very exciting dead rubber? I'd settle for that ...
