I'm inclined to agree with you on that RJA. The only proviso is the state of his body - if he the slightest niggle, he should rest next week, but if he feels good, more matches is probably the best preparation for him. I'm sure we'l find out what his plans are in the next day or two.
The curious one was really Kyle coming out a week later than the Wards, especially with him lacking matches. Last week and this week always looked better timing than this week and next week.
If that has been injury related it is great that he seems fine now.
after what happened in paris on friday the belguim FA have called off their friendly match against spain in brussles. so could there be a possibility that the final is posponed? What are everyones thought, do we recon it will go ahead? andy has came out and said it has too
Kyle for me has to be the pick now, I think he can deal with the pressure and has the best chance of beating the Belgian number 2. I also don't think it will come down to the final rubber ( can't believe I just wrote that ).
As for concerns about security, I've always said that following a terrorist attack of the scale of the one in Paris, the safest time to travel/visit/attend these types of sporting events is just in the aftermath. I suspect it'll be like fort knox, but at least you'll be safe.
Listening to the news this morning, it doesn't sound like Belgium is the place to be just now. The whole country on high security alert with people in Brussels advised to stay at home, the metro shut and all shopping area and public places advised to shut.
It's only for the weekend and only for Brussels - at least according to their official notice: twitter.com/infos140/status/667967931582701568/photo/1^tfw And it appears to be recommendations to the various relevant authorities rather than commands (Belgium has an extraordinarily complex governance system - eg Brussels has 19 "communes," each with its own authorities) But if the authorities all follow the recommendations, it is certainly quite a shut-down.
Assuming all goes ahead as planned, I would guess that security for the final will be, as philwrig says, quite intense.
Interestingly, the six-day cycling event in Ghent is taking place as I type, in their very small velodrome "shed". Not a full-house, but I don't know how well this event is supported anyway.

Searching for tennis courts. I reckon there's about 1 court per 25,000 people in our wonderful borough :(
5 Live reporting that the GB squad have delayed their departure to Belgium due today. Practicing on clay at home and fully planning to now travel tomorrow.
The Ghent courts still being prepared and not due to be available until tomorrow anyway.
