I highly doubt that Bedene would be chosen, regardless of my own personal opinions. It would be a big risk for Leon Smith, especially as there are three currently eligible players who many could find reasons for putting as No 2 without Bedene entering the argument.

I wpuld quite like gb to win this one and surely bedene would be likely to neat darcis if necessary
However, I continue, albeit normal pragmatist as I am, to look on Aljaz winning an appeal as good for next year, especially with Andy likely less available, but preferring that GB stick with the original available group for the final.
Just seems to me the best way forward for reasons I can't fully explain, but I think mostly to do with it a final ( hopefully final win ) perhaps being remembered for us parachuting in someone late on, even if it would be not really our fault, but the ITF's.
I just know I'd be happier that way anyway.
On the purely playing side, I'm not sure that Aljaz would beat Darcis, if he's the Belgian number two, but he may very well have the best shot, and would clearly be in the discussion if that was all it was about. But it's not for me.

To be fair I believe Aljaz has asked not to be picked for this tie if he wins his appeal, I think he recognizes that the current team deserve the chance to finish the job.
as other fan groups get tickets it really seems a shame that this forum isn't able to get any tickets or is it ?
just a shout for all the folks on here who have supported above and beyond for many years.
Indeed, emma, some names instantly spring to mind, who I don't mention, just because I'd no doubt be missing others who have been here, there and everywhere in support of Brits and most certainly many who have supported in many tournaments.
So sorry for not mentioning you, Bob in Spain and philwrig
yes, lots of people on here including those who are not able to get to tournaments. the knowledge of tennis on here is amazing. I know nothing about tennis in comparison.
www.sherpa.be was the ticket website used for semi-final tickets Belgium v argentina which I've signed up for in case final tickets are on there.
www.tennisvlaanderen.be/daviscup is a really good site which gives details of whats happening. there will be a press conference on oct 1 where the procedure for ticket sales (in belguim?) will be explained (according to their twitter).
edit: Ghent is quite beautiful. David Bowie has been known to visit Ghent Cathedral gazing at the very famous altarpiece 'the Adoration of the Mystic Lamb'. this was some time ago

Just looking at Brydan's win / loss records and he appears to largely share Evo's aversion to playing on clay.
Really do hope Kyle gets his mojo back pretty quickly. It was understandable to be rusty against Brydan, but that was rather rustier than I expected. No idea though how much practice he has got in.
We could certainly do without having two relatively clay happy players in Kyle and James being off-form and Brydan and Evo being our most on-form eligible potential number twos when the match is on clay ( or at least almost certainly on clay, don't know if that's absolutely definite yet ? )

Anyone else noticed that David Goffin has been playing doubles fairly regularly at matches since the summer? He and Thiem just won one, too (for, I think, the first time).
3000 tickets went on public sale today, but nowhere near that number got tickets, eventhough e.g one person was told thet they were only in the 200s in the queue. A certain website already, reselling tickets for up to £1200, it is SCANDALOUS !!
