Great to hear, again all about Andy setting standards and everyone else buying into what has been a throughly professional effort with very little left to chance. I know there will be talk of papering over cracks etc... However in what is by necessity for the most part a gladiatorial, singular selfish sport we have seen a pragmatic synergy of LTA and individual resources deliver one of the best results for British team tennis ever.
Very good to see this group of players get the type of success that is likely to give them a lasting bond throughout the rest of their careers and beyond. Building such relationships can't do British tennis anything but good, and very nice to see Kyle's junior Davis cup win mature into him playing a small part in success in the real thing. I sense Andy really enjoys DC (and the Olympics) and although not necessarily playing ever game will always want to be part of it in some way.
Thanks for all the extra nuggets of info!
All the superlatives have already been used, so no need to say it all again, but I'm still buzzing this morning!
Andy is one classy guy and everyone should know it.
Didn't get to watch the match yesterday but I had full confidence in Andy, and when I was out I managed to get the BBC Sport app to work on 4G just long enough to see the match point and Andy dropping to the floor. Brilliant moment, brilliant celebrations, wonderful achievement - a shovelful on a mountain, but this was special.
There are plenty of characters here and it will be great over the next day or two to enjoy some celebrations. I would imagine Dan Evans is the most experienced on our team in that respect.
I would have said you came out pretty much the best (barring Mr Murray) in that picture, BiS! Though never having seen you in person, I don't know what relationship it bears to real life.
Thanks for the link generally, Steven. I do get a slight chuckle from Dan Evans' expression in the pics. It almost feels as if he is himself amused by the twists of fate that have seen him both try to break into the top 500 via the Futures Circuit and hoist the Davis Cup ... within six months. He thoroughly deserves the trophy - not just for his part in Glasgow, but also for the role he played in earlier ties. But the DC final is a long way from Felixstowe and Frinton, tennis-wise if not geographically, and it must be hard not to wonder if one's dreaming a bit. (Just out of interest, has anyone else ever had a year like that?)
It just felt from the very start of the tie that Andy just wasn't going to be denied, so focussed/intense and basically on another level from what we saw at the Us open and the O2. Goffin did his best yesterday, but it would have taken an inspired Nole to beat him in that mood and form.
Good decision to play the Japan tie ( maintain our world group status), but then focus more on Wimby/Olympics/US open than he was able to this year. Chance to really blood Kyle with help from Wardy/Evo/Liam and maybe Bedene if he is successful with his appeal.

It's a good enough likeness that I recognised him in the picture but Bob looks a fair bit younger in real life - then again, the last time I met him was at the Russia tie, I think, and he's had a couple of years of Brazil-related hassle since then!
