Yes, as Madeline suggests, now that we have won the doubles, it is clearly excellent news that the Belgians threw Goffin into the doubles.
It may have been a tough call as to which of rubbers 3 and 4 represented their best chance of a win. I did think it was a Goffin with a day off vs Andy rather than them ever taking the doubles. And though there were points in that doubles I was not so sure, I still tend to think that was the case.
A Goffin without that day off vs Andy is I think quite a different matter and puts GB now in as prime position as they could have hoped for, short of having won 3-0.
Going into tomorrow, latest odds. Andy to win 86% chance and Kyle if he were to play Bemelmans quite surprisingly a 66 % chance. So anything other than an inspired Goffin, should be enough.
Except it almost certainly wouldn't be Bemelmans if it went to a 5th rubber - Darcis is their 5th rubber king, so he'd play unless he's injured.
Hopefully it won't anyway

Terrific result today. It was very hard fought but I thought Andy was imperious throughout. Not good for the blood pressure.
With regard to the Darcis debate, I thought he blew hot and cold. In the first set, he was terrific, until he missed the easy smash that to all intents and purposes cost the Belgians the set. I think he hit more winners than Goffin, with some exceptional returns of serve. However, on reflection, I think Goffin is one of those unassuming players who goes about his business in an "unflashy" way, and it is only when you look back and see how few errors he made in comparison to his partner, that he was probably the better player for them. And Darcis did fall apart towards the end.
Most other things on this trip (car hire, hotels) have been a bit of a nightmare. But if, or should I say when, Andy finishes the job tomorrow, all the trials and tribulations will be forgotten.
Tried for my usual onsite scoop today, asking about Kyle's new coach, but no decision has been made as yet. So the best I can come up with is that the photo of Kyle in the programme was taken when he was 15 yo. He looks almost angelic, bless him. He thinks it is the one from his Junior Davis Cup days.
Oh, and watch out for a change in scheduling for the Skupskis at the start of next year. They are going to try a different pattern of events at the start of the year, having had two consecutive years of dreadful 1st 6 months and awesome 2nd 6 months. #Longhaul

Bob, it is always good to have you on site. Keep thinking we should subsidise your travel expenses.
Got to a bit of the replay late, and SC is correct that by the 5th set, the commentators were clearly calling Goffin as the stronger Belgian player, whatever they may have said earlier in the match (I skipped to the highlights). Looks as if it must have been a great - if nerve-wracking - match to watch.
