This is one of those times when our 'friends' on the German forum will be going, "oh, Anna, losing to a youngster who's ranked 900+ and has barely won a match in the last few months is just so disappointing, that's the sort of match she just has to win, etc. etc. etc. "

Katie wins the tie break 7-5!! Won the last three points having been behind throughout the breaker.
Looks like (as far as you can ever tell from stats) a really good win from Katie - serving stats pretty solid on both sides with Aces far outweighing DFs (Katie was 15-4), and coming through a tight match is always going to be a big confidence boost.

I see Katie could play Anna Blinkova, ranked 4 in juniors, in the second round. It can't be very often two top ten juniors face off in the first or second round of a $10K.
I think that one will be very tough. Blinkova is very strong and I wouldn't be surprised to see pretty straightforward win for the Russian.

I love it when I am wrong!! Well done Katie. Great win!
Next up for Katie is 17 year old Cristina Bucsa WR 769 and Junior WR91. You would think a repeat of today's performance would see her safely through that one.
