One thing I've noticed since Laura started her comeback are the negative traits which dogged her previous tournament play are if anything evenmore magnified now. Serving toss issues/ double faults/inability to close out matches/ performing better at the bigger tournaments/ struggling somewhat against inferior opponents.
Playing here I suspect without much crowd support, doing your own ball fetching (probably), makes it feel like a very small tournament, those tournaments in Canada during the summer were much bigger deals even if they were playing for the same prize money/ranking points.
Saying all that, getting used to playing at altitude will take time, her opponent had played quite well in Mexico before, so even if the scoreline wasn't as onesided as it could have been there are some mitigating factors.
Her next match I suspect is 50/50, Oprandi is the standout player in the field, having returned from injury, reached finals last week in a 100k in Biarritz. If Laura can navigate her way through 3 rounds, Oprandi will likely await in the semis.
I've done a brief browse of the internet on Chieh-Yu Hsu, Laura's 23 year old Taiwanese opponent. She is a left hander, who seems to be a regular on the ITF circuit, playing $25k and $50k tournaments. She has a perfect 4-0 record in ITF finals, all $50ks but the last of those was 4 years ago. Laura beat her in the first round of Granby doubles, 11-9 in the match tie-break.

If you use this link you get a nice shiny brand new scoreboard, with some extra stats - depending on which link you use on the ITF site you either get the new or the old one!

Which link gets you to that shiny new scoreboard, please?
It's the bottom one, that tony_orient posted: http://itfprocircuit.tennis-live-scores.com/scoreboard.aspx?tid=W-C25-MEX-03A-2015
It's weird - when I'm at home the link on the tournament calendar next to the tournament name (the small orange button) takes me to the new scores, but the one on the menu bar at the top of the ITF page takes me to the old scores. When I'm on my work laptop, both links take me to the old scores (though obviously I don't ever check tennis scores at work...).
