Week 36 - Challenger (€42,500) St. Remy, France (Hard)

I think this is a sensible move for James, try to string a few wins together

R1: Joshua Milton WR 328 vs. (3) Norbert Gombos (SVK) WR 125 (CH = 103 May 2015)

R1: Ilya Ivashka (BLR) WR 430 (CH = 405 July 2015) vs. (4) James Ward WR 135

James really needs to find some form this week and produce good winning tennis on court.

While no doubt a consideration in Leon's mind, it is banking a lot to just hope that James will turn it on like a light bulb come Davis Cup.

So given at the moment James has positively big time history to offer he also has negatively seriously concerning form for a while So it's in his interests to find something this week or he adds more to the odds of him being a Davis Cup spectator when the matches get started.

Wow, in the blink of an eye, James loses first set -6-1.
Desperately needs to break this bad spell he's having.

Have to say Ivashka has come up with some inspired shots

Have just caught it lately, but what I've seen has been poor return games from both.

The game James lost to love to go *3-5 down was a gift of nothingness and mistimed shots landing mid court and put way with ease. Not much more was offered back next game.

I assume from airsmashers' comments there was some quality earlier, at least from the opposition.

Lost 6-1 6-4 and it looked an excuse for a Challenger match latterly and James surely can't be playing Davis Cup.

Edit : I see in the Davis Cup thread that James in not in the ( initially nominated ) team, it being Andy, Kyle, Jamie and Dom.

Edit edit : that thread evolves, it is apparently still 4 from 5 with James one of the 5. Not for long if he continues remotely like today !  ( calling Evo ! )

Wow. That's a hard one to swallow. Really is becoming a nightmare year for James (Wimbledon aside) and I have to say I can't see him playing DC at this rate.
