RE: Week 36 - Great Britain F9 ($15,000) - Nottingham (Hard)

looks like practically a bye to the semis for Dan (no disrespect to the others but not in the same class), and should really go all the way

I haven't seem any timetable so don't hold me responsible if somehow the final ends up on Saturday.

But I just can't imagine them having initially scheduled for two main draw rounds on one day ( I've never seen that as an initial plan ).

Go and watch the semi finals on Saturday

I'm ashamed to admit that I didn't actually think of that! Clearly had my heart set on watching Evo lift the 'trophy'

I certainly will do then biggrin

Glad to see Storrie, Gray and Cannell getting WCs. They've had some decent results (especially Joel) in the Men's and Boys' tours recently, and I'd like to think Joel might give Dave Rice a run for his money.

Toby Martin has given a walkover to Luke Oakley. Hope Toby's OK - he's obviously been plagued with some injury recently.

Remind me, someone, Luke gets the prize money but does he also get the ranking point ? Seem to remember he doesn't . . .

Luke B and JWH have both won - and now face each other in the next round. They did so last week, too, with Bambo coming out on top. But that was in round one and at least they've made it through a round each first this time . . .

Also, richard gabb def. Josh Paris and Harry lost out in three sets to the third seed. Joe S beat Oli Hudson in three sets too.

Evo cruising. And Keelan up against Neil P

Neil came back strongly to take the first set, 7-5, from 2-4 down.

Dan Evans was merciless against young Jonnie, winning 1&0

No LL then to take Toby's place ?

If not, to me a W/O winner should get a ranking point But as to whether he does, I know not.

I think CD has it the wrong way round.

Luke will get a point, i'm not sure about the prize money. It's in the ITF rulebook, but I don't have time to check. Toby shouldn't get any prize money for entering and withdrawing.

Neil Pauffley pretty comprehensive in the end 7-5 6-0 over Oakley.

I'm pleased. Having seen him last week, I really think he is capable of so much more than his ranking would suggest, I think he has a tough task in the 2nd Round against Laaksonen but if he plays as he has done recently, I hope he could win that, and if he does, I'd back him to make the final.

I think I was getting it confused with BYEs,, where you get the prize money but not the ranking points (of the round you get the BYE through to, if you then lose).

But just checked (could have done that first I guess ) and Luke gets both:

"A match won by default or walkover will count as a match won for computer
ranking points and prize money."

as opposed to:

"A player or doubles team who receives a bye and thereafter loses in the
second round will not receive any computer ranking points but will receive
second round losers prize money."

And, yes, obviously Toby gets nothing.

Anyway, well done Luke !

Sorry Mr Peskie, but I would really like to see one of our guys in that singles third quarter get to at least the SF stage.
