RE: Week 36 - Great Britain F9 ($15,000) - Nottingham (Hard)

Harry saw off Omar.

Luke O and Marcus Walters did, indeed, close out their matches with no problem.

Mason Recci has taken the first set v Skinner.

Youngster Michael Shaw is well up on Isaac Stoute (who doesn't seem to be getting many wins these days . . .. ). 5-1 to Shaw.

Piers and Sizya are locked in at 4-4 - Piers is supposed to be playing a Nottingham Tour event match at 3 this afternoon - maybe not ?

I guess Evo will be missing qualifying in Turkey if he does well here. Would like to see him back at Challenger level but hopefully he can bag himself 27 more points here and look to make some main draws.

So no Marcus and the juniors have two wildcards. A guaranteed first point for either Foley or Ferguson.

As for the four foreigners - Pavic should get past Marcus Walters, JWH v Larriere might be tight, Bambo should beat Nicolas and Harry might have a few issues with the Swiss.

He'll be up at Glasgow next week as a hitting partner(possibly Liam as well), hence why he is playing here.

Looks as if Dan Smethurst has been a late withdrawal and so maybe caused one of the two LL spots ( Larriere is a LL in addition to Skinner ).

Not sure how my copy and pasting missed that. I've corrected it.

The juniors have got three wildcards, in fact, but pleased for all of them - they seem a nice, hard-working group.

And the Q Brits did a great job, keeping it an all-Brit affair - here's hoping tomorrow will be as good . . . (although, as you say, paulisi, a couple are going to have real trouble)

Smethers has obviously not showed up - wonder if he's OK or is off elsewhere?

sorry: the line above crossed with other people's comment...

Imran Aswat, the number one qualifying seed and qualifier, is not in the main draw so he certainly will have opened up one of the LL spots.

Surprised to see so many byes in a 15k doubles.

Wonder whether it's because there's also the Nott. Tour event going on at the same time and a lot of the qualifiers here, who lost, who would normally have signed up fro doubles, are playing the Tour event singles instead.

Really hoping Dan E can make the final here. I only live about 45 minutes from Nottingham and would love to get down and watch at the weekend. Am I right in thinking the final will be on Saturday?

Presumably Sunday if the main draw isn't getting going until tomorrow, Wednesday.

I haven't seem any timetable so don't hold me responsible if somehow the final ends up on Saturday.

But I just can't imagine them having initially scheduled for two main draw rounds on one day ( I've never seen that as an initial plan ).

Go and watch the semi finals on Saturday
